2003, Nintendo Game Boy Advance release their second edition, which was known as the Game Boy Advance SP. This was a great improvement on the version of the Nintendo Game Boy Advance, which stands for special production. Originally released at $80, the Game Boy Advance SP was featured as an accompanying item to the Nintendo DS.
This Nintendo Game Boy only weighs 142 g and features a colour LCD screen. It is front lit by an LCD light and features a rechargeable battery that is composed of lithium-ion and can play for over 18 hours if you turn the light off.
The Game Boy advance SP is a clamshell design in which when closed it is half the size as it is open, and is roughly the same height when open as the Game Boy Colour. This system also features a rechargeable adapter pack that you put into any standard AC unit, and will not only play it but also recharge the batteries at the same time. This also features a software library, which is almost exactly the same as the Nintendo Game Boy Advance period.
As compared to all the previous models of the Nintendo Game Boy, the Nintendo Game Boy Advance SP did not come with a headphone jack. This does not mean that you cannot listen to the games using headphones it meant you must purchase a special headphone adapter to allow you to plug the headphones at the same point as the adapter.
Two years after the initial release of the Nintendo Game Boy Advance SP, Nintendo released a new version and was known as the Nintendo Game Boy Micro. This Nintendo Game Boy Micro is basically a backlit version of the Nintendo Game Boy Advance SP.
