A 2005 hardware clone for the Nintendo Entertainment System was known as the Generation NEX. This home gaming console is designed to play not only the 72 pin, but also the 60 pin and Japanese release Nintendo Entertainment System game cartridges. This clone for the Nintendo Entertainment System is considered to be about 97.25% compatible with the Nintendo Entertainment System games.
There are roughly 21 different games that are incompatible with the Generation NEX hardware clone of the Nintendo Entertainment System. There have also been various issues with the graphics as well as sound errors when playing the various Nintendo Entertainment System games on the Generation NEX hardware clone.
One thing that makes this particular hardware clone different is the fact that it has a built-in support for their 2.4 GHz wireless controller. This is great for many of those players who have found that the controller's cord is not long enough to reach from their entertainment system to their favourite sitting position.
Unlike many of the other hardware clones, the Generation NEX has had no reports of damages to the Nintendo Entertainment System game cartridges. The system is also not capable of creating a full stereo sound, but instead plays in a dual mono sound similar to that of the original Nintendo Entertainment System.
