Due to the popularity of the Super Nintendo, a redesigned version of the Nintendo unit was released in 1997. This unit would become known as the Super Nintendo Entertainment System 2. This unit was released at $100 and included two games, which included Yoshi's Island, as well as Super Mario World 2. This unit was considerably lighter, as well as smaller than its predecessor, the initial Super Nintendo, but it lacked the RGB as well as the S-Video outputs.
It was on this second version that the game Kirby's Dreamland 3 was designed for. Nintendo also, re-released the game Frogger on the second version of the Super Nintendo Entertainment System.
Thanks to the popularity of the Super Nintendo Entertainment System, 1 and 2, there have now been several releases of various emulators, so that one can play the games using image files that were created in the piracy movement of this home gaming console. There are also various homebrew games that were made utilising the emulator for the Super Nintendo Entertainment System.
These versions of games, are now available for various consoles such as the Sony PlayStation Portable, Nintendo DS, GP2X, and Gizmundo.
