Sega 32X
The Sega 32X was an add-on for the Sega Mega Drive, or Sega Genesis as it was known in North America, gaming console which was released as the Sega Super 32X in Japan. Released in mid-November of 1994, the Sega 32X was 32 bit attachment to the Sega Genesis system, it was placed in-between the new 32X games and the original 16 bit Sega Genesis/Mega Drive.
Only one of the Japanese Sega 32X games was released in North America and most of the games were now capable of being used in multiple regions, rather than a Japanese game being unable to be played in a North American console.
There were also several 32X CD games released that could be used in conjunction with the Sega Genesis with the Mega Drive add-on and the 32X unit plugged into the 16 bit cartridge slot.
