CDX
In 1994, Sega released the Multi-Mega or CDX, which was a 16-bit gaming console that combined the Sega Genesis with the Sega Mega-CD into a single unit in order to attempt to encourage the public's interest in their Mega-CD. Due to the high price tag and lack of sales of the Mega-CD games, coupled with the soon to be released Sega Saturn, the Mega-CD quietly disappeared from the gaming industry world-wide.
Sega's Multi-Mega/CDX was able to play both the Mega Drive as well as the Mega-CD games, since it had a rear-mounted slot for cartridges, as well as a front-mounted CD drive. It was compact enough to plug in a set of headphones and a set of quality lithium batteries, you could use the Sega Multi-Mega/CDX as a Discman.
