Master System
The SMS or Sega Master System was an 8-bit cartridge-styled gaming console, which was originally released in Japan as their version of the SG-1000 Mark III. The European gaming market loved the new Sega Master System, but the Americas did not take it as well because there was heavy Nintendo competition at the time.
It would not be until Sega was to release their next generation gaming console, the Sega Genesis, that Sega would manage a fighting chance against Nintendo for the American market.
For the Sega Master System, Sega released only to the Brazilian Market, Street Fighter II, and to help with the playability of this game, Sega also released a six-button controller.
The Sega Master System also came with a light gun similar to Nintendo's Duck Hunt gun, but was actually modelled after the Zillion gun and was called the Light Taser. In the Japanese market only, a set of 3-D glasses were also available, where the glasses utilised a shutter system that closed the left and right lens in rapid succession in order to create the 3D effect.
