5 generations after the release of the initial Apple II home computing system, the Apple IIgs were released to the video gaming industry. Much like its predecessors, its home computing systems were released with the sole intention of being mainly a home gaming system, rather than a home computing system. This was a cheap price computer, and became very popular throughout the school systems in the United States. Many people in the United States remember growing up and going to school with one of these systems in their classroom.
But when it comes down to this 16 bit home computing system, what most people remember are the games. Games that became popular included titles like Arakanoid, Bard’s Tale, Blockade, Déjà Vu, Gauntlet, Hunt for Red October, Kings Quest, Lemmings, Paperboy, as well as the Space Quest series of games.
